I sure most experienced Photoshop users at deiantART already know how to create a brush. However there are new people at deviantART and to Photoshop who don't know how and this tutorial is for you guys!

Thanks a lot. Definitely a lot more helpful than Photoshop help, which returns your search query of "create brushes" with "create bookmarks"...

Oh, also to create the "fancy" brushes, just realize that the opacity of the brush is driven by the grayscale of the original image and not just black/white. For instance, if you want part of the brush to paint at 50% opacity, just make that detail of the design 50%gray. As long as the background stays white or clear, you should be able to create the brush.

Nice tutorial, its really helpful :) But any idea how to make the more fancy brushes? Like for eyes, blood etc? Do you just adjust the opacity of your brush for the different parts?
